Varsity Boys Soccer Qualify for the postseason despite loss in final game to Lawrence, 1-3

The Varsity Boys Soccer Team managed to earn a post season berth for the 5th time in as many years despite losing their final match of the season to Lawrence HS, 1-3. The Owls who have been struggling lately to re-find the identity that helped them stringing together a 5-game unbeaten streak came out flat against the third place Tornadoes and fell behind 2-0 in the first half after Sophomore goal keeper Jake Prince turned away a penalty shot in the 14th minute. The Owls cut the lead to 1 behind a converted direct kick by Junior Sam Moscheni in the 41st minute of the game. From that point forward, Lynbrook generated a number of chances that fell short and Lawrence extended their lead in the 65th minute when they finished on a ball the Owls had trouble clearing out of their own end. The game ended 3-1 in favor of Lawrence.

The Owls who needed to just secure a single point in the standings in either of their final two games were unable to control their own destiny and now had to wait to see if Mineola could defeat Valley Stream South in the final conference game of the season. The Mustangs won the game 2-0 over the Falcons which kept the Owls in the fourth and final playoff spot out of the conference.

The Boys now wait to see who they play and where as they expect to be the last team in at the 8th seeded position. The game is scheduled to be played Tuesday 10/24 and should either be at Floral Park or Locust Valley; both of which have a case to earn the 1 seed in the tournament.

UPDATE
The Owls were seeded 7th in the Class A Playoffs and will travel to 1 Locust Valley on Tuesday 10/24, 2PM Kickoff!!
