The Varsity Boys hosted their first match of the 2025 campaign on Thursday 9/4 as they opened up the North Middle Turf season against Lawrence High School in the final pre season non league game.

With the Owls roster still not at full capacity due to injuries and players who lacked practice time, the home team lined up a little differently then in their previous match two nights earlier. The Lynbrook squad played to create opportunities forward by using the outside alleys of the field while concentrating on making the necessary rotations and shifts to balance their formation on the field. The game was back and forth for the first 20 minutes and Lawrence broke the scoreless tie when they cut in from the left side of the field and fired a ball back to the right of goal tender Jake Prince. The game was settled in again and the Owls generated a couple of chances on net before the end of the first half.

Lynbrook came out of the half looking to get the equalizer and nearly netted it on a number of chances as Nick Mignella, Jacob Wolkoff and Juan Chosec all had opportunities in the offensive end. Although the Owls came up short of equalizing the game, the play continued to get better and the players were able to make more connections on the field. The game concluded with two Lawrence tallies in the final 5 as the Owls continued to rotate players and give the depth of the bench some necessary game experience.

With the preseason officially behind them, the Owls look to start the league season this week with home games against Valley Stream South (5:30) and Wantagh (5:00) on Monday and Wednesday respectively. They then travel to Mineola HS on Saturday 9/13 for a 10AM kickoff.
