Varsity Boys open the league schedule with a 0-0 draw against Valley Stream South earning them the first points of the young season.

The Varsity Boys Soccer Team took the pitch this evening against neighboring Valley Stream South HS to open up the 2025 league season. The 0-0 draw earned both the host Owls and the visiting Falcons their first point of the season.

The Owls roster was the deepest it has been this season so far with eligibility issues and injuries holding back a number of players to this point and they were hoping to find the back of the net to open up the young season. Lynbrook came out fiery as they controlled and dominated much of the play through the first 20 minutes. The visiting Falcons had only a few forward opportunities in the first frame of the match but when they did manage to break through, Lynbrook’s Jake Prince (9 saves) stood tall and protected his net. He was able to smother a number of breakaway’s to keep the game level. The second 20 saw much of the same with a number of great opportunities for the Owls just missing the back of the net. Valley Stream South’s Kevin Gebauer had a solid game himself in net with saves.

The second half of the game saw much of the same as Lynbrook seemed to be the stronger side but just could not seem to finally break through. The Falcons continued to battle and they had a number of great chances in the final 15 minutes that Prince once again turned away.

Overall, it was an entertaining game for the fans, but has to be disappointing for the players and coaches as they left 2 points on the field in a very short and highly contested conference. Every game is going to matter and ties are not going to be helpful the further down the schedule the Owls go.

The Owls will now turn attention to Wantagh HS, who after a 1-3 loss to Valley Stream North, will visit the Owls on Wednesday 9/10 @ 5:00PM on the Lynbrook North Turf.
