Varsity Owls play to another scoreless draw in Conference A1; tie Wantagh 0-0.

The Varsity Boys Team continues to be an enigma of sorts as they have now gone 4 straight games this season without tallying a goal for the team. After dropping 0-2 and 0-3 decisions in non league play, the Owls have now played to a scoreless draw in each of the first two league contests. In contrast, the Owls have not allowed a goal in league play thus far making them only 1 of 2 programs having done so. The defense and goal keeping have been stable and unyielding. Now the hopes is the offense will start clicking and producing.

Lynbrook hosted the Wantagh Warriors on Wednesday 9/10 for the first of two meetings this season after the Owls ended their playoff hopes in 2024 when they defeated the Warriors 5-0 in the final regular season match. The first match of the season between the sides proved to be a back and forth battle that saw more mistakes and errant balls than execution and finishing. Both teams struggled to generate any clear possession in the game as the scoring opportunities proved to be few and far between.

Lynbrook’s Jake Prince recorded his 2nd clean sheet of the season with 7 saves in the game and Wantagh’s Alex Jung had 5. The draw earned both teams a point in Nassau County’s Conference A1 with the Owls sitting in 4th position and the Warriors in a tie for 5th in the table.

Next up for the Owls will be tough pair of road games matching up with Mineola on 9/13 at 10Am and then Floral Park on 9/16 at 5PM. Lynbrook will finish up the first half of the league season on Thursday 9/18 when they host Valley Stream North at 5:30pm.
